Villagers affected by the land subsidence in the Barapukuria Coal Mine Company Ltd area begin fast-unto-death wearing shrouds in front of its main entrance on Wednesday.
Residents of 15 villages affected by the land subsidence in the Barapukuria Coal Mine Company Ltd (BCMCL) area started fast-unto-death Wednesday to realise their demands including compensation and rehabilitation.
Thousands of villagers, including men and women, gathered in front of the BCMCL main entrance and started the fast-until-death at about 12:10pm wearing shrouds.
Security in and around the BCMCL has been beefed up by deploying a large number of police, Bangladesh Rifles and riot police forces, reports our Dinajpur correspondent. |
